Merry Christmas!
This Christmas we started off decorating a few weeks later than normal because of our trip to Memphis. When we pulled out our tree we discovered it had been ruined in our garage. (Thanks to our neighbors leaving their door open and letting stray cats in every night! Sharing a garage is the pits. My father in law helped me put up a chicken wire fence so hopefully the problem is solved.) Luckily, I still have a little white tree I bought for $3.00 at a yard sale when I moved out of my parent's house. I think I like this little tree and we will hold off on buying a bigger tree for a few years - it's nice not having to pull cats out of the tree every day. They didn't even try with this one! My mom was watching Ebin and Rhiannon for us during their winter break and they had a few fun days of making gingerbread houses and cookies. They were so proud of their houses and my mom made a cute gingerbread girl! The kids' Grandma Peggy stopped by with presents before she went out of town: It was also fun to see pictures of Emmy in the Christmas PJ's we bought for her. She is adorable! On Christmas Eve we upheld our Gilmore Family tradition of going out to Rib N' Chop for dinner. Every one of us ordered the baseball cut steak because it's completely amazing. At Rib N' Chop they give you crayons so you can draw on the paper table cloth. Ebin challenged me to a draw-off so I quickly drew both the kids and they thought it was awesome. Another tradition is to take pictures outside on the street in front of Rib N' Chop after our meal. We always have fun doing this - just wish it wasn't so cold! The only thing missing from this picture is my brother and his family - we sure missed them! After dinner we headed back to my parent's house so the kids could find the pickle on the tree. The first one who finds the pickle gets their pick of a prize! Rhiannon always loses and as you can tell in the picture below, she is not happy about it! Haha - she is too cute. We hightailed it home and got in bed before Santa showed up! When we woke up on Christmas morning we found the evidence of his visit! We didn't waste any time and started opening our presents. We all got some great things! We spent the rest of our morning playing Super Smash Brothers before heading over to my parent's house for brunch (PIGGY PUDDING!) and presents. This year I made family photo books for our parents - glad they loved them! We spent the whole day watching movies and playing mexican train. When we got home Danise (bio mom) came by to give the kids presents, too! Welp, that concludes our Christmas holiday! It was a lot of fun and we had a nice time spending it with family. Next year we hope to spend more time with Chris' parents - they traveled to Florida this year to spend Christmas with my brother in law, Josh, and niece, MaKenna.
