We weren't able to meet up last Saturday for my father-in-law's birthday so they came to visit us yesterday to celebrate. We had a nice relaxing afternoon and evening with them and had fun laughing and talking. All of us love spending time together and it is always amazing. This visit was especially amazing because it was filled with Wyogurt at the park, Bubba's BBQ, German chocolate cake, and chocolate ice cream with salted caramel topping. We love you, Dad! Hope you had a great birthday and party!
September is PCOS Awareness Month. PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) is something I have learned to live with and will continue to live with the rest of my life. There isn't a cure yet and even the cause is unknown, though research strongly suggests it is a genetic disease. I am supporting awareness because most women with PCOS don't know they have it. There are so many different symptoms that it is widely treated like individual problems rather than putting the pieces together. Untreated it can lead to other health risks including cancer. Learn about PCOS and the many symptoms. The PCOS Foundation hosted a 5K walk/Run for PCOS Awareness. The main walk is in Houston, Texas but because I am in Wyoming I registered for a virtual walk so we could walk here in their t-shirt as well as donate to the cause. My dad, kids and my parent's dog, Winnie, walked with me and my mom, unable to walk this year because of medical issues, drove around blaring fun music, cheered us on and supplied us with drinks along the way. My husband had to work or he would be there with us, too! I am lucky to have such a wonderful family that do what they can to support me. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be doing it again next September. Hopefully next time more people will join us in the walk. I started a Facebook Page for women with PCOS in Wyoming to get information and news called Wyo Cysters. Team Wyo Cysters raised $100.00 for PCOS which met our goal! Thank you to everyone who donated! We took a bunch of pictures so I thought I'd share! Teal is the color for PCOS Awareness so we all dressed in teal.
After the 5K we went to lunch at Hansel's in town and had some tasty salads! Snuck in a few more shots of me with the kids. We had a great day and had a blast!
